Eating Adventures in Switzerland

Let me start by apologizing that it’s been FOREVER since my last blog post. Life has been a bit crazy to say the least! I thought it’d be fun to share with you all the delicious food that Dan and I had in Switzerland. We traveled to the beautiful cities of Bern, Lucerne, and Montreux. Despite it raining almost the entire time, we had a blast and ate some of the best food ever!

To start, check out this ridiculous cheese fondue. The fondue in Switzerland is primarily made with Gruyere cheese which comes from the town of Gruyere.

Okay, now let’s just take a moment and talk about the chocolate. OH man, the chocolate. It was insanely good. Our favorite kind was dark chocolate hazelnut.

Next is one of the best sandwiches we had on the trip. We discovered a fantastic sandwich place, and we wound up going there 4 different times. This sandwich had grilled chicken,  pecorino cheese, arugula, and balsamic glaze.

At our favorite lunch place we spotted this delicious looking raspberry fruit tart that we just needed to try! It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet and a wonderful ending to our lunch.

Below was one of our favorite dinners. I got a pasta with asparagus, sundried tomatoes, parmeasan, and arugula, and Dan got a traditional veal dish with a creamy mushroom sauce and a side of rosti which is a fried potato pancake.

Below is a decadent chocolate dessert we shared one night. It consisted of a chocolate crust with chocolate mousse, chocolate crumble, mint, blackberries, and raspberry sauce. YUM!

After a long walk on one of our last days we decided to take advantage of the rare sunshine and sit outside at a cafe. We shared a giant pistachio icecream sundae which was awesome. I never thought I loved pistachio ice cream, but this was quite extraordinary.

Last, but not least is the mid-morning tea I treated myself to in the lobby in the hotel. It came with delicious treats that I couldn’t refuse.

Overall, this was one of the best (and most delicious) trips Dan and I have ever taken!
